Washington and the World: The Governor’s Perspective
Governor Chris Gregoire,
Washington State Governor
Washington State is increasingly being viewed as an international hub for business and trade, culture and the arts, geo-politics and immigration. What does the future hold for Washington in an increasingly interconnected world? How can we capitalize on our strengths of geographic location, diversity of peoples and ideas, and active civic participation and community involvement? What is the best way to support our global leadership in the fields of information and bio-technology, R&D, and international relief and development? What are Washington’s plans for rising to the challenge of global competition?
The World Affairs Council presents Washington State Governor Chris Gregoire at a luncheon on September 20 where she will address Washington State’s role in the world. Governor Gregoire’s formal remarks will be followed by a brief question and answer session.
About the Speaker
Governor Gregoire was elected to her current post as Washington State’s 22nd Governor in 2004 and has worked for its citizens since 1988 in a variety of positions including serving three terms as Attorney General and as the director of the Washington Department of Ecology.
