We are accepting applications for all departments for Fall Quarter 2010. To apply for these positions, please follow the application process.

Administration International Visitor Program
Community Programs Membership and Development
Global Classroom

 

Administration

  • Assist with database administration including contact management, donor tracking, event registration, and funds processing support.
  • Maintain and develop the Council's website using Macromedia Dreamweaver.
  • Learn, use, and research new and diverse technologies to increase the efficiency of office management tasks such as facilities maintenance, supply inventory, and workflow processes.
  • Master multimedia filing system protocols as well as coordinate general mailing, faxing, and telephone operations.
  • Support event planning of major fundraisers (Spring and Fall).
  • Attend Council events and assist in direct recruitment of members and marketing of the World Affairs Council.
  • Coordinate special projects as assigned.

Community Programs

  • Coordinate event logistics including developing outreach strategies, booking venues, and overseeing details of event production, event registration, and speaker correspondence.
  • Research and propose ideas for new programs.
  • Serve as point person for volunteers.
  • Attend Community and Global Classroom programs and facilitate event implementation.
  • Promote and publicize Council programs by researching new marketing techniques and helping with placement of advertisements, flyer distribution, and collaboration with local organizations.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Global Classroom

  • Communicate with teachers and visitors to plan school visits and attend visits when possible.
  • Oversee ongoing school programs including speaker series, student attendance of community programs and youth summits, professional development programs for teachers, and special events such as conferences and Council fundraisers.
  • Research curriculum and resources to supplement professional development programs for educators.
  • Support Global Classroom fundraising efforts.
  • Coordinate the World Citizen Essay Contest.
  • Attend Community and Global Classroom programsand facilitate event implementation.
  • Maintain the Global Classroom Database.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

International Visitor Program

  • Accompany international visitors to meetings with local professional resources.
  • Research local resources and draft proposals for upcoming programs.
  • Compile and edit visitor itineraries.
  • Prepare and assemble welcome packets and programs.
  • Produce marketing materials including publicity notices for local media, website postings, and the monthly electronic newsletter.
  • Contribute to the IVP Blog by writing and uploading reports about meetings with international visitors.
  • Maintain database.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Membership & Development

  • Act as the main support for the Council's Membership and Development Program and help recruit and retain members.
  • Research, develop, and implement strategies to increase and diversify membership.
  • Design new outreach events to promote membership growth and diversity.
  • Attend Council events and assist in direct recruitment of members and marketing of the Council.
  • Learn and use new and diverse technologies to improve the Council's marketing efforts and to promote Council activities and communications.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Communication and Outreach

  • Draft donor letters and solicitations.
  • Draft marketing language for upcoming confirmed events.
  • Assist with marketing of events and programs
  • Work with staff to update and integrate social media, i.e. Facebook and Twitter.
  • Produce and edit invitations, acknowledgement letters, and follow-up correspondence with donors, event attendees, and board members.
  • Work with the programming team to draft op-eds, press releases, and other promotional materials for events.
  • Review Council website, develop rewrites in line with Council communications platform and strategy.
  • Assist with other projects as needed.
