Avery Closser
Avery was born and raised in Sun Valley, Idaho, before moving to Tacoma where she graduated from the University of Puget Sound, with a double major in International Political Economy and Spanish, and a minor in Latin American Studies. While in school, Avery studied abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she took classes at local Argentine universities and volunteered for a children's literacy organization. During her senior year, Avery interned for the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project in Tacoma, where she gained a profound passion for immigrant and refugee rights. After graduation, Avery interned for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Upon her return to the US, Avery held a seven month internship for the World Affairs Council, working on the International Visitor Program team. Avery currently works for Han Santos, PLLC, a small intellectual property law firm located in downtown Seattle. Avery is enthusiastic about Latin American culture, U.S. politics, hiking and camping, trying new foods, and meeting new people.
