Maya Sullivan
Maya Sullivan joins the 2020-2021 YPIN Board as a proud member of the Nisei queer community. A 2019 graduate of the Jackson School of International Studies and the School of Economics from the University of Washington, Maya's intention of spending the 2019-2020 academic year in Oman on a Fulbright Research grant was cut short due to COVID-19. Reluctantly returning home four months early in 2020, Maya gratefully joined the Middle East Program Team at the Mercy Corps in Portland, Oregon. Maya hopes to channel her experience working with NGOs and the public sector into successful programming as a member of the Cultural and Current Events Committee on the YPIN Board.
Outdoor adventures of all sorts delight Maya, and she can be found most weekends backpacking or learning to climb. She is a coffee aficionado, and is slightly embarrassed to admit she boasts three coffee subscriptions. Currently, Maya is continuing her struggle to learn the beautiful Arabic language, convincing herself to go on more runs, and seeking more channels for community involvement.
