EU Policy Forum for Educators: Master Teacher Workshop | Europe Goes Green? Energy, Environment, Politics, and Security in the EU
This resource was created to supplement the 2021 EU Policy Forum held annually by the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies, the European Union’s Erasmus+ Program, the Center for West European Studies & EU Center, and the Ellison Center for Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies, facilitated by the World Affairs Council's Global Classroom,
The Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies welcomed K-14 educators to participate in the summer 2021 EU Policy Forum, co-sponsored by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Program. This one-day master teacher workshop was particularly geared toward middle school, high school, and community college educators, and focused on contemporary issues in the European Union.
This curriculum resource guide is composed of four modules related to,
- The rise of green parties in European and EU politics (especially in Germany)
- The European Commission and its proposed European Green Deal
- The balance between green energy, energy security, and geopolitical security
- Tricky tradeoffs between sustainability and economics in the EU
Educators and students will have in-depth access to tools and resources centering the impacts of climate change in the EU; innovations in renewable energy; the European Green Deal in relation to the UN's SDGs; and more!
