Sezgi Acar
Born and raised in Turkey, Sezgi moved to United States in 2016 as a Fulbright scholar. She is currently a teacher at the Literacy Source, a non-profit organization in Seattle, where she teaches English as a second language, Ready to Work classes to immigrants and refugees.
Sezgi worked as a researcher at the University of Alabama where she also taught first-year composition to international students. As a researcher, she investigated endangered languages of Turkey. She has multiple publications in various journals, magazines, and newsletters.
Sezgi is also working as a linguist in one of the language learning applications where she develops curriculum and education content that is accessible and targeted to English learners in U.S. public school. She has a bachelor’s Degree in Translation Studies from Istanbul University and a master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Alabama at Birmingham and another master’s degree in Applied linguistics from the University of Alabama.
Sezgi enjoys traveling, Seattle coffee and learning new languages.
