Angela MacDougall
Angela is a Senior Program Officer at American Councils for International Education, where she administers the U.S. Department of State’s National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) scholarship program. Angela’s role focuses on Virtual NSLI-Y, which introduces U.S. high school students to languages critical to U.S. national security in an interactive online format. From 2015 to 2022 Angela supported international students at Northeastern University in Seattle, the University of Washington, and Seattle Central College. Prior to her move to Seattle, she worked in Washington, D.C. and abroad for programs facilitating international exchange and citizen diplomacy.
Angela holds a BA in International Studies from American University, an MS in Global Studies from Northeastern University, and a Graduate Certificate in Leadership from Northeastern University. She has spent around four years living in Russia and the Republic of Georgia. Her year in Russia as a high school exchange student sparked her lifetime passion for international education, cultural exchange, and understanding across difference. In her spare time Angela serves as a Board member for Choir of the Sound and is working on her Ukrainian.
