As the Trump administration marks 100 days, join KUOW and the World Affairs Council for a conversation with BBC’s senior North America reporter Anthony Zurcher. Zurcher covered the 2016 U.S. election and now reports on U.S. politics and culture during the presidency of Donald Trump. As he describes himself on Twitter, Zurcher’s “a Texan who explains US politics to Brits, UK politics to Americans & Canadian politics to everyone.” KUOW’s Amy Radil will speak with Anthony about his perspective on the power of the presidency, the political stories of Trump’s first 100 days, and what it’s like to be a political reporter in Washington D.C. at this moment.
About the speaker:
Anthony Zurcher is a senior North America reporter for BBC News, covering US politics and cultural happenings across the continent. He has spent most of the past two years following the US presidential race, with short breaks to report on general elections in the United Kingdom and Canada, where the campaigns are mercifully short.
He also presents the BBC World Service radio program Trumped — a weekly look at US politics and Donald Trump through his words and tweets which is airing during the first 100 days of the Trump Presidency.
Anthony joined the BBC in 2013, writing about global opinion and commentary.
Prior to that he worked for Los Angeles-based Creators Syndicate, where he edited newspaper features, including the work of political columnists such as Robert D Novak and Molly Ivins.
Over the course of his career he has covered the US Supreme Court, Congress, the technology sector and Texas state politics. His work has been published in more than 100 news outlets.
Anthony was born in California, grew up in Texas, attended college in Washington DC and lives in Virginia. He married a New Yorker and has friends and family scattered across the country. He can count the US states he hasn't visited on one hand.
You can follow Anthony's blog on BBC News: http://www.bbc.com/news/correspondents/anthonyzurcher.
