“Waging Peace, Fighting Disease, Building Hope” – Remembering President Jimmy Carter

In 2012, to a full house of 2,600 people at the Paramount Theatre, including over 600 high school students from over 20 different schools, contingents from Habitat for Humanity and The Carter Center, international visitors from Moldova, and elected officials, President Carter celebrated the 60th anniversary of the World Affairs Council as the keynote speaker in a conversation about the work of the Carter Center titled, "Waging Peace, Fighting Disease, Building Hope." The evening opened with a welcoming ceremony by Red Eagle Soaring Native Youth Theatre, and honored Julia Bolz, founder of Ayni Education International, as the recipient of the 2011 World Citizen Award and Lisa Clarke as the recipient of the 2011 World Educator Award.
