Paul Neville

Paul Neville is a career diplomat, who joined the U.S. Department of State in 2006. In his most recent assignment at the U.S. Embassy in Honduras, Paul led the promotion of U.S. business investments and $10 billion in bilateral trade. Previously, Paul served as Chief of Staff in the Office of Foreign Assistance Coordination at the U.S. embassy in Pakistan to manage over $700 million in annual U.S. funding for health and infrastructure projects. As head of the Political-Economic Section at U.S. Consulate Chiang, Thailand, Paul served as the U.S. government liaison to Burmese exiles in Thailand. At U.S. Consulate Tijuana, Paul coordinated U.S.-Mexican immigration policy and interviewed over 14,000 visa applicants.

In Washington DC, Paul led U.S. policy for the Pacific Islands, including the establishment of a USAID mission to accelerate the economic development of 12 Pacific Island nations. He also served as lead coordinator for public diplomacy to South Asia, shaping U.S. outreach and communications to a region with more than 1.5 billion people. Paul has had short-term overseas positions in U.S. Embassy Colombo, Sri Lanka; U.S. Embassy Dushanbe, Tajikistan; U.S. Embassy Kathmandu, Nepal; and U.S. Consulate Mumbai, India.

Outside the State Department, Paul served as the City of Seattle’s International Affairs Director where he organized outreach to increase Seattle’s international profile and advocated for the positive social and economic impact of Seattle’s $80 billion in annual foreign trade. He also worked for QED, FINCA, and USAID to promote microfinance and economic development projects, primarily in Africa. Paul was a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Tonga; received a Master of Arts in International Affairs from Georgetown; and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Washington. He is from Issaquah, WA and has traveled to over 100 countries and all 50 U.S. states. He is a husband and father of two young boys.
