Lisa Chang

Lisa was raised and schooled in New England, gravitating to English and environmental science – in both cases, drawn by the ability to understand human experience through each field’s tools and craft. Lisa made her way to the southeast of the U.S. and mid-Atlantic where she earned her master’s and Ph.D. in environmental science, meeting and working with many amazing scientists, teachers, and students. Lisa began her government career with the U.S. EPA in Washington, D.C., helping develop and implement national regulations under the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts. Now, in EPA’s Pacific Northwest regional office, Lisa is a member of EPA’s Puget Sound National Estuary Program team – our program that supports a complex, multi-party, and transboundary effort to protect and restore the Puget Sound and broader Salish Sea ecosystem. Her family is deeply rooted in east Asia; Lisa’s parents are Korean immigrants who have maintained strong family ties and shared their passionate engagement in Korean and Asian thought and culture. Lisa is raising a second grader in Seattle and is intent on contributing to a healthy, open, globally conscious community, and to create positive and healthy connections between the Pacific Northwest and the rest of the world.
