Raquel Sanchez
Raquel Sanchez has spent her 20+ year career in research administration. She was recently named Managing Director of the Global Oncology program at Fred Hutch which focuses on a collaboration with the Uganda Cancer Institute. Prior to the Hutch, Sanchez spent 13 years at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NY, where she helped build a world-renowned brain cancer program. She was recruited to the Hutch in 2013 to lead its Human Biology Division and support he launch of the Seattle Translational Tumor Research group. After four years she was promoted to associate vice president of Research Administration.
Sanchez’s leadership and dedication to building high-performing, inclusive and collaborative teams has garnered her numerous honors, including features in Puget Sound Business Journal’s “Women Who Lead” and the Association of Latino Professionals Women in Leadership (2019), a Puget Sound Business Journal “40 Under 40” award (2017) and a Fred Hutch Administrator of the Year Award (2016). She also serves on Fred Hutch’s Diversity Council and the Hutch United Advisory Board, and she chairs the board of Education Across Borders, a global health and education foundation.
