McKenna Tey
McKenna grew up in Colorado and received her BA in International Relations with a minor in Asian Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. As an adoptee from China, she became interested in research concerning international adoption and decided to write her capstone thesis on the topic, which only deepened her passion for learning. Her paper touched on adoption policies, statistics, child development, and ideas surrounding multiculturalism. While in college, she participated in a year long study abroad program in Taipei, Taiwan attending the National Chengchi University where she learned about the changing political climates between the United States, Taiwan, and China. This experience helped expand her own global perspective and gave her the opportunity to create many great connections and travel to surrounding countries.
As a communications intern at the World Affairs Council, McKenna hopes to inspire and connect people from Seattle to those around the globe. After college, she moved to the greater Seattle area and has been enjoying every second of it. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, drinking coffee, and trying new restaurants with her husband and friends.
