Hope Dorris
Hope is in her third year at the University of Washington, double majoring in Law, Societies, & Justice and Political Science, while participating in the Interdisciplinary Honors Program. Throughout her coursework, she has developed a passion for learning about international relations, human rights, diplomacy, collaboration and conflict, and the promises and pitfalls of economic development. She is excited to work in Community Programs at the World Affairs Council to further her understanding of many of the global issues that affect people living around the world today, as well as helping to bring these conversations to the local Seattle community.
Hope was adopted from China and grew up in Olympia, Washington. The former experience instilled in her an interest in what life is like in places that seem far from home, and a desire to look across national borders. Additionally, growing up in the capital of Washington inspired her interest in governance, law, and politics, which led her to her current trajectory of study.
Hope also loves houseplants, coffee, playing Spikeball, reading, and exploring the many Seattle parks! While she doesn’t know exactly what she wants to do post-graduation, she hopes to engage in more international travel and eventually attend graduate school.
