Exploring US-Latin America Relations
On April 28th, 2015 educators gathered at Seattle Academy to explore US-Latin America relations. Professor Marc McLeod, Director of Latin America Studies at Seattle University, gave a brief history of US-Cuba relations, then explained the political, economic, and social implications of the recent renewing of diplomatic ties. Next we heard from returned Peace Corps volunteers who had recently served in various Latin American countries. Rachel described daily life in rural Costa Rica, and Dina shared her cultural experience in Paraguay. Finally, GC staff shared lesson plan ideas from the teacher resource packet. This packet contains articles, lesson plans, videos, infographics, and more to help you integrate Latin America into your classroom.
