Using Global Dialogue to Promote Peace and Understanding
On November 18th, Global Classroom, in partnership with Face to Faith, presented a workshop for educators discussing the importance of global connections for cross-cultural peace and understanding. Simmi Kher, Education Consultant for the Tony Blair Faith Foundation, introduced teachers to the Face to Faith program – live videoconferencing, an online global community, and Common Core-aligned modules. Next we virtually met two global educators from the Philippines and India. Denib Suguitan and Rashmi Srivastava talked to Seattle-area teachers about the impact global connections have made on their students’ learning about the world. Finally, local teachers Lisa Sibbett and Ryan Hauck share their personal experience developing globally competency in their classroom. How can teachers equip their students with 21st century skills? This packet contains Common Core-aligned activities and lesson plans from Face to Faith along with the EdSteps Global Competency matrix.
