What Students Need to Know: How National Security and the Internet are Connected
On April 28th, General Michael Hayden spoke intimately with 30-some Puget Sound-area teachers about his work as the Director of the CIA. They inquired about the connection between the internet and national security – and what students need to know about this new frontier. Teachers were surprised to hear that the former CIA director started out his career as a history teacher! The accompanying teacher resource packet can be downloaded here as a 40-page pdf. Topics include: Intelligence Gathering and Democracy: How do They Coexist?; Cyber Security; Topical Books for Adults and Young Readers; and CIA/Intelligence Gathering and Civic Engagement (and Civil Rights) lesson plans. Students interested in careers in national security will find numerous resources here.
