Today and tomorrow are the days to Give BIG!
Giving BIG has a different meaning to everyone so, whether it's a $5 donation or $500, we ask that if you value the work of the World Affairs Council, and if you think our mission is vital to the Seattle community, give BIG at whatever level that means for you.
Click to visit our Give Big page and give today and tomorrow!
We've also been highlighting the other ways you can give or engage with the Council over the past week if you follow our social media channels. Check them out below!
Educators have a deep and lasting impact on the next generation of our society and leaders through crucial mentorship. Our Global Classroom team supports teachers who want to help our children grow and discover the wider world. Through educator curriculum resources and professional development workshops, book clubs, asynchronous opportunities, and international exchange opportunities we work in tandem to develop the global competency of our educators across Washington State and beyond so they can, in turn, support their students at all levels of their education. Learn how you can incorporate global resources in your classroom today!
It takes more than following the news on social media to stay informed on everything happening everywhere! One way to dig deeper is by interacting at one of our community programs. Actively participate in discussions with experts and diplomatic officials working around the world as they share their critical insights for a better perspective that delves deeper than newsreel highlights. Check out our upcoming calendar to see what events we have coming up as well as the types of speakers we’ve welcomed in the past.
We have hundreds of visitors coming to the Seattle area every year and want to connect them with you! We continually look for new families to host our guests either as homestay or dinner hosts. If homestay hosting is something you are interested in, sign up here!
If being a dinner host is more your speed, we have a signup sheet for that! We also realize that not everyone may be able to host a dinner, but they still would like to engage with our international guests. We are excited to share that there are opportunities for you too! If being a dinner host or joining a dinner sounds like an activity you would enjoy, sign up here.
A student-led initiative, the Global Connections Club is a great meeting point for all globally-minded middle and high school students to connect with each other and discuss issues they care about in world affairs. Students can also grow their skills through our annual World Citizen Essay Contest (WCEC), Global Competence Certificate Portfolio (GCCP) Program, IVLP Alumni in the Classroom visits, and attend public programs the Council offers free of charge!
Help us reach students in your life that have an interest in world affairs! Click here for the Global Connection Club!
We depend on our members to be active and engaged in our community and to share and invite their friends and colleagues to all the exciting opportunities and events we have throughout the year.
If you know of anyone else in your network that has an interest in international connections or believes in the value of being a global citizen then pass the word along! The best way to stay informed about everything the Council does is through our email list which you can find here!
