YPIN Global Cafe – Venezuela: (Intern)National Crisis
April 18th, 2019 7:00PM -8:30PM
Venezuela is in the middle of a major political, economic, and social crisis. Due to extreme hyperinflation, violence, scarcity of medicine, and food and other basic goods, some experts are declaring a humanitarian crisis. Earlier this year, Maduro's political opponents, named "The Opposition", fomented additional unrest, as massive protests against Maduro’s policies splashed into the international spotlight. This resulted in Juan Guaido, the head of the National Assembly, to declare himself the interim president; leading to both calls for and protests against international intervention.
Global Cafe is a YPIN discussion series where participants get together to examine and analyze some of the biggest topics in Global Affairs today. In this Global Café, we will discuss the events leading up to the current crisis in Venezuela and open the discussion to the larger topic of international intervention in political crisis. This is an informal conversation; all respectful opinions and thoughts are welcome.
The event is free and open to the public. We look forward to seeing you at Outlander Brewery on April 18th, at 6:30pm. This event is 21+.
