The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by the World Affairs Council which is a member of Global Ties U.S.
Emerging Australian First Nation Leaders: In December, a group of "Emerging Australian First Nations Leaders" will visit Seattle to exchange ideas on social inclusion, equity, Indigenous self-determination, mental health, and community resilience. During their visit, they will engage with Native non-profits, coalitions, and legislators to explore how these issues are addressed through diverse services and policies.
Disability Rights in the United States: Three medical professionals and NGO heads from the Central African Republic will examine development and implementation of disability rights legislation, and assess challenges and advocacy for people with disabilities in their time in Seattle.
Democratic Governance at the State and Regional Level: Five Ethiopian leaders will come to Seattle to discuss the U.S. federal system and relations between federal, state, and local governments, and the leadership skills and decision-making capabilities of regional officials.
Digital Innovation in Climate Resilience: Twelve researchers, leaders, and government heads from throughout South and Central Asia, in their visit to Seattle, will discuss addressing climate change with technology, government cooperation with civil society, and implementation of climate policy in the United States.
Identifying and Combating Disinformation to Promote Media Literacy: Four journalists and lecturers from throughout Africa will come to Seattle will discuss measures to counter disinformation and misleading reporting, and explore social campaigns to promote media literacy and resilience against polarization and extremism.
Strengthening the Renewable Energy Sector to Combat Climate Change: Ten engineers and energy experts from Brazil will explore technologies applicable to the renewable energy sector, examine U.S. trade and energy policies, and discuss the U.S. green energy sector and the hydrogen hubs launched by the U.S. Department of Energy while they are in Seattle.
