The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by the World Affairs Council which is a member of Global Ties U.S.
Higher Education in the United States: Six globally-minded educators are soon visiting the U.S. from the Kingdom of Jordan to explore the roles of universities, community colleges, vocational/technical schools, private sector employers, and online learning platforms in preparing young adults and adult workers to participate and compete in the job market, as well as creating educational opportunities and access for minority, economically disadvantaged, geographically isolated, and rural students. They will also assess opportunities for international linkages and partnerships with foreign universities and governments with their own while examining best practices for expanding international student exchange programs and institutional support.
Addressing the Needs of Underserved and At-Risk Youth: 17 leaders from 11 countries across Latin America will travel to Seattle to look at methods of primary intervention for youth, offering assistance to unhoused youth, and whole-family approaches to encouraging positive change for at-risk youth.
Cooperation in Marine Scientific Research: 10 experts, researchers, and government officials from 7 island nations in East Asia will travel to Seattle to discuss Pacific Ocean research priorities, explain best practices in MSR research, and build relationships between U.S. based scientists and Pacific Island officials.
Research Security and Protecting Intellectual Property: Arriving in early October, eight Nordic research and development leaders will be visiting Seattle on a program focused on enhancing research security and safeguarding intellectual property. Their meetings will highlight best practices when working with research communities, research funders, law enforcement, and intelligence entities.
Countering Violent Extremism - Community Strategies: Nine judges, public affairs managers, lawyers, and diplomats from throughout the Middle East will visit Seattle and explore state and local government initiatives that counter violent extremism, examine underlying conditions that fuel it, and foster cooperation between governmental and non-governmental sectors.
Strengthening Cultural Heritage and Antiquities Preservation in Rural Areas: Fifteen Saudi Arabian museum heads and directors and heritage commissioners will come to Seattle to discuss City and State level initiatives to support arts and prevent crime, emergency planning and response for the preservation of cultural heritage, and preservation of cultural heritage for Indigenous and Asian American communities.
