Captain Jason Sherman
Captain Jason Sherman is a U.S. Navy officer with over 27 years of experience in organizational leadership, aviation operations, ordnance operations, shore support operations, and political-military strategic affairs. He is currently serving as the Chief of Staff for Commander, Navy Region Northwest. Navy Region Northwest provides shore organization, consolidated base operations support, facilities and space management, and exercise coordination to homeported and transient ships, submarines and aircraft, afloat and ashore tenants, and military families at the four major installations in the Puget Sound area as well as over 80 other Navy activities and special areas throughout Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota and Iowa. Designated a Naval Aviator in February 1999, Captain Sherman qualified in the SH-60B and MH-60R helicopters and amassed over 3,200 flight hours conducting anti-surface, anti-submarine, maritime surveillance, counter-piracy and maritime security operations. He has commanded the Proud Warriors of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron SEVEN TWO (HSM-72), Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, and Navy Munitions Command Pacific CONUS West Division. A native of Columbus, OH, Jason is a Navy Rotary Wing Weapons School graduate, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management from The Ohio State University and a Master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College.
