Hands for a Bridge
The World Affairs Council is proud to announce Hands for a Bridge from Roosevelt High School as the recipient of the 2012 World Educator Award!
Each year, the Council honors a local K-12 educators who demonstrates leadership in connecting students to the world and contributes to the development of new programs and resources that enable other teachers to do the same.The presentation of the World Educator Award represents an important part of the World Affairs Council’s concerted effort to showcase activities which bring world issues into area classrooms and to give local community members and business leaders the opportunity to acknowledge the critical role teachers play in education children about the world.
Hands for a Bridge is being recognized for its dedication to increasing global awareness by fostering dialogue about issues surrounding social justice. Over the years, this program has transformed students into global citizens with the vision and resources to affect change in the world. The World Affairs Council would like to honor the team of educators behind Hands for a Bridge, Roosevelt high school teachers Karen Grace, Carolyn Kenney Hall, Richard Katz, Kara Macdonald, Janine Magidman, Thomas Nolet, and Brian Vance.
