Empowerment & Gender Equality in the Classroom
This resource was created to supplement the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Center and World Affairs Council - Seattle's Annual Educator Workshop 2022,
Empowerment & Gender Equality in the Classroom
This workshop included powerful stories featured in the Discovery Center's Enduring COVID-19: Stories from our Transforming World online exhibit, a panel discussion, 'Teacher Talk" discussing the intersectionality of gender equality related to the impact COVID-19, and more.
This curriculum resource guide supports students, educators, and community members in learning about gender equality and gender expansive practices in the classroom. Students will be able to define/explain "sustainable development" and analyze the role of gender in the context of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals; identify/discuss the challenges (and progress made) of achieving gender equality in local, national, and global contexts; understand the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on achieving gender equality globally; and ways to take action to empower and support women, girls, trans, and nonbinary youth in the Greater Seattle Area and beyond.
